It’s only recommended that you connect to your package via SSH if you’re familiar with the command-line interface.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Download PuTTY Software for Windows<\/a> and install it.<\/li>
  2. Once you have installed PuTTY, search for and open PuTTY Key Generator on your computer.<\/li>
  3. Select\u00a0Generate\u00a0and move the mouse around in the gray box to generate some\u00a0Randomness. This will generate a public key.<\/li>
  4. Add a passphrase (password). This is what you’ll need to put into the command-line interface.<\/li>
  5. Log in to\u00a0your Control Panel,\u00a0and then select,\u00a0SSH Access\u00a0from under the\u00a0Security\u00a0section.<\/li>
  6. Then input the public key that was generated from PuTTYgen into the\u00a0Public Key\u00a0box. A handle will be generated automatically. Then select\u00a0Add Public Key.<\/li>
  7. Head back to PuTTY Gen and select\u00a0Save private key. Save this as any name you want.<\/li>
  8. Open PuTTY. Down the left-hand side, select to expand the\u00a0SSH\u00a0menu and then select\u00a0Auth.<\/li>
  9. Select\u00a0Browse\u00a0and add the private key you have just saved.<\/li>
  10. Head back to\u00a0Session\u00a0using the left-hand menu and add the hostname \u2018ssh.stackcp.com\u2019 and select Open<\/li>
  11. The command-line interface will be shown. Then log in with your domain (e.g. domain.co.uk).<\/li>
  12. You’ll then be prompted for the passphrase that you set earlier. Enter this.<\/li>
  13. You’ll now have access to SSH for your site
