What Is a Crypto Converter?

A crypto converter translates value between cryptocurrencies and traditional fiat currencies — how much is 0.25 BTC in US dollars, or what does 10,000 PKR buy in Ethereum? Our free Crypto Converter answers both directions instantly, with live market rates for around 20 leading cryptocurrencies and a wide panel of fiat currencies including USD, EUR, GBP, PKR, INR, AED, SAR, QAR, KWD, JPY, CNY, AUD, and CAD. Type an amount in either field and the other updates in real time; an inverse toggle flips the pair with one tap. Rates stream from the free CoinGecko API with no key or sign-up required, and the tool is engineered to stay useful even when the network is not: recent rates are cached in your browser for 24 hours, and a manual-rate mode lets you enter your own rate and convert fully offline. Every figure shown is an indicative market rate — an estimate for reference, not financial advice and not an executable trade quote.

How Conversion Pricing Actually Works

Newcomers often assume there is one "true" price of Bitcoin. In reality, every conversion you see on this page is built from spot market data — the midpoint price where buyers and sellers most recently met on major exchanges — blended into a single reference rate. The price you would actually receive on a specific exchange always differs slightly, and the difference has a name: the spread. Exchanges and brokers quote you a bid (what they pay) slightly below spot and an ask (what they charge) slightly above it; that gap is how they earn, and it widens on small or volatile assets. On top of the spread come explicit trading fees, and sometimes withdrawal or network fees when moving coins. So when our converter says 1 BTC ≈ $67,400, read it as "the market's current center of gravity," not "the number your app will show." For travel-style fiat-to-fiat math without any crypto involved, our Currency Converter covers traditional pairs, and our Percentage Calculator is handy for working out spreads and fees as percentages.

Supported Coins and Fiats

Cryptocurrencies (~20)Fiat currencies
BTC, ETH, BNB, SOL, XRP, ADA, DOGE, TRX, AVAX, LINK, DOT, LTC, BCH, NEAR, UNI, ATOM, APT, ARB, OP, INJ, SUIUSD, EUR, GBP, PKR, INR, AED, SAR, QAR, KWD, JPY, CNY, AUD, CAD

The coin list focuses on high-liquidity assets where public price feeds are most reliable. Extremely new or thinly traded tokens are deliberately excluded, because their quoted prices can be misleading — a token that last traded an hour ago on one small exchange does not have a meaningful "current" conversion rate. If the coin you need is not listed, manual-rate mode covers any asset on earth: just paste in a rate from a trusted source and convert away.

Worked Examples

Say Bitcoin's reference rate is $67,400 and you hold 0.25 BTC. The converter multiplies: 0.25 × 67,400 = $16,850. Flip it around: with $5,000 to spend at an Ethereum rate of $3,520, you get 5,000 ÷ 3,520 ≈ 1.4205 ETH. A cross-crypto example: converting 2 SOL to BTC at SOL $172 and BTC $67,400 goes through the dollar leg — 2 × 172 = $344, then 344 ÷ 67,400 ≈ 0.00510 BTC. The tool performs the same two-leg math for any crypto-to-crypto pair automatically. Try a fiat example relevant to everyday life: 250,000 PKR at a BTC rate of roughly 18,700,000 PKR per coin converts to about 0.01337 BTC. These are indicative figures — your exchange's spread and fees will move the final number, which is why the converter labels its rates honestly instead of pretending to be a trading terminal.

A Note on Stablecoins

Stablecoins like USDT and USDC aim to track the US dollar 1:1, which makes them the bridge currency of crypto: traders park value in them between trades and use them to move funds across exchanges quickly. For conversion purposes they are refreshingly boring — 1 USDT ≈ $1 — but the "approximately" matters. Stablecoins have briefly depegged under stress, and different stablecoins can trade at slightly different prices on the same exchange. If you are converting through a stablecoin leg, the converter's reference rates reflect those small deviations rather than assuming a perfect peg. As ever, these are indicative rates for estimation, not financial advice.

Live Data, Honest Fallbacks

The converter fetches rates from CoinGecko's free simple/price endpoint, which is CORS-open and needs no API key — your browser talks to it directly. To respect rate limits and keep the page snappy, requests fire only when your selection changes (debounced), and each successful fetch shows an "updated Xm ago" timestamp so you always know the age of the numbers on screen. If the API is unreachable — rate-limited, offline, or blocked — the page never goes blank. First fallback: rates cached in your browser's localStorage from the last 24 hours, clearly labeled as cached. Second fallback: manual-rate mode, where you type any rate (from your exchange, a receipt, or another source) and the full converter keeps working with zero network access. If a fetch fails, you get a clear message and a one-click retry button. A converter that silently shows stale numbers as if they were live would be dishonest; this one tells you exactly what you are looking at.

Honest Limitations

Plainly stated: the rates here are indicative reference rates, not quotes you can trade on. Real execution prices include the venue's spread, its fee tier for your account, order-book depth at your size, and sometimes a markup buried in "zero-fee" marketing. Crypto prices also move in seconds — a rate that was accurate when the page loaded can be stale a minute later during volatility, which is why the timestamp is always visible. The tool does not model fees, taxes, or network costs; for fee-aware math on actual trades, use our Crypto Profit Calculator. And the broadest limitation: converting a number tells you what something is worth right now, not whether buying, selling, or holding is wise. That judgment is yours, and nothing on this page is financial advice.

Frequently Asked Questions

How accurate are the conversion rates?

They are indicative spot-market reference rates from CoinGecko, accurate enough for estimation and comparison. For actual trading, always check your exchange's live quote, which includes its spread and fees.

Does the converter work offline?

Yes — via two paths. Recently fetched rates are cached in your browser for 24 hours, and manual-rate mode lets you enter any rate and convert with no network at all.

Why does my exchange show a different price?

Exchanges add their spread and fees to the reference rate, and each venue's order book differs. Small differences are normal; large ones deserve a second look before you trade.

Can I convert directly between two cryptocurrencies?

Yes. Pick any two coins and the tool routes the math through the shared reference (fiat) leg automatically, showing you the cross rate.
