A fun clicking-speed game β great practice for gamers. Your best score is saved in this browser only.
CPS β clicks per second β is the ultimate bragging right among gamers. Whether you are into Minecraft PvP, first-person shooters or just love a good reflex challenge, your click speed can genuinely affect your performance. Our free CPS Test measures exactly how fast you can click with a live counter, a progress bar and an instant rank at the end.
The concept could not be simpler: a big click area, a timer, and your mouse (or trackpad, or touchscreen). Click as fast as you possibly can before time runs out, and the tool calculates your clicks per second down to two decimal places. Your best score is saved in your browser automatically, so you can track your improvement over days and weeks.
No downloads, no sign-up, no plugins β it works on desktop and mobile browsers alike. Challenge your friends and settle the debate once and for all: who really clicks fastest?
You get three test durations to choose from:
During the test you will see a live click counter ticking up with every press, a progress bar showing remaining time, and your current CPS updating in real time. When the timer hits zero, your final score appears with a rank, and your personal best is stored via localStorage β it is still there next time you visit, on the same device and browser.
Here is how the test ranks your result:
For context, the average person clicks around 6 CPS, while trained players using advanced techniques regularly break 10β14 CPS in short bursts. Your score also depends on hardware β a responsive gaming mouse with light switches will always beat a stiff laptop trackpad. Want to test the other half of the reflex equation? Try our reaction time test to measure your response speed in milliseconds.

Raw mashing only gets you so far. Competitive clickers use real techniques:
Whichever technique you try, warm up first, keep sessions short, and stop if you feel pain. Speed is fun; repetitive strain injuries are not.
Let's be upfront: a CPS test measures how fast you can press a button under fun conditions β it is a practice and reflex game, not a scientific instrument. Your score varies with your mouse, your browser, your surface, your caffeine level and how warmed up your hand is. Treat it as entertainment and friendly competition, not a medical or professional measurement. That honesty is exactly why players trust it: what you see is what you get, with no inflated claims.

CPS is simple arithmetic: total clicks divided by test duration in seconds. Land 42 clicks in the 5-second test and your score is 8.40 CPS. The timer starts on your first registered click inside the test area and stops at exactly zero β late clicks do not count. The 5-second test is the community standard because it smooths out single-burst luck without letting finger fatigue dominate. One extra click is worth 0.20 CPS here, so that precision genuinely matters.
Forget DPI β it controls cursor movement, not click speed. What matters is how cleanly each press registers: a 1000 Hz polling rate if your mouse offers it, wired or quality 2.4 GHz wireless (cheap Bluetooth adds lag), low debounce time on gaming mice for rapid re-presses, and a stable surface so the mouse never lifts mid-test. Compare scores only on the same setup β a new mouse can add 2+ CPS overnight, and that is hardware, not skill.
Click speed responds to structured practice: run ten 1-second bursts with 20 seconds of rest between them to train pure firing speed; click along to a metronome app, raising the tempo until your timing breaks, then back off slightly; and dedicate 5-minute blocks to one technique at a time instead of mixing mid-test. Track your 7-day average rather than your lucky peak, and rest when your forearms ache.
An expensive mouse raises your ceiling, but technique is the floor β a skilled clicker on a basic mouse still beats a beginner on a premium one. Higher DPI does not make clicks register faster. You do not need mechanical switches; plenty of players break 8 CPS on office mice. Modern gaming wireless rivals wired β only cheap Bluetooth lags. Practice first, hardware second.
Using drag clicking, players have recorded 30+ CPS in short bursts, and some claim even higher. With standard clicking techniques, anything above 12 CPS is exceptional. Your hardware and technique matter enormously.
Yes, noticeably. Mice with light, responsive switches and low debounce time register presses faster and with less finger fatigue. But technique still matters more than gear β a skilled clicker on a basic mouse beats a beginner on a premium one.
The test cannot stop you, but it defeats the entire purpose β you would be measuring software, not yourself. Scores achieved with autoclickers are meaningless for comparison, and most games ban them outright.
Completely normal. Finger muscles fatigue quickly, and maintaining peak speed requires conditioning. The drop-off between your 1-second burst and 10-second average is actually a useful measure of your clicking stamina.
Yes β your personal best is stored in your browser's localStorage, so it persists between visits on the same device and browser. Nothing is uploaded anywhere, and clearing browser data will reset it.
No. Refresh rate only changes how smoothly you see the counter β the test counts click events, which are independent of your display.
Around 7β9 CPS is genuinely competitive; 10β12 with butterfly clicking is strong. Past ~10, positioning and aim matter more β and many servers penalize drag clicking, so check the rules.
Usually you clicked outside the test area, the browser lost focus, or your mouse's debounce swallowed ultra-fast double presses.
