If you have an existing external or third-party SSL certificate you can install this at Fist Host.
Your certificate provider will need to provide the following sections for us to be able to install the SSL certificate:
- Certificate
- Private Key
- CA Bundle / Intermediate Certificate
These details will need to be entered within the SSL/TLS section within your Fist Host Hosting Plan
Login to your Control Panel, then go to SSL/TLS option and enter details.
Note: Your Private Key will have been provided when you generated a CSR using your organization’s details. If you have any questions about this, the certificate provider will be able to help.
Please also note that SSL certificates can take up to 30 minutes to install on to the webserver. If your A records are then pointing to the IP address of the hosting package then your site should show as secure.
What You Need Before Installing
Before you install third party SSL certificate, gather the required files from your certificate provider. You will typically receive a certificate file (CRT), a private key (KEY), and possibly an intermediate CA bundle. Ensure the private key matches the Certificate Signing Request (CSR) that was generated. If you do not have a CSR, you can generate one from the control panel’s SSL/TLS section. Keep these files in a secure location. Verify that your domain is pointing to FistHost and that you have access to the control panel. Some providers also require you to download the certificate in a specific format, such as PEM or PKCS#7. Check the provider’s instructions carefully. Having all files ready before you start will make the installation process smooth and avoid errors. Contact your provider if any files are missing or if you encounter errors during the upload process.

Generating a CSR
If your provider asks for a Certificate Signing Request (CSR), you can generate one from the control panel’s SSL/TLS section. You will need to enter your organization details: domain name, company, city, and country. The system will produce a CSR file and a private key — send the CSR to your certificate provider and keep the private key safe, because the certificate they return will only work with that exact key.
Renewal Reminders
Unlike the free AutoSSL certificate, third-party certificates expire — usually after one year. Set a calendar reminder two weeks before expiry so you can renew and reinstall in time. An expired certificate triggers browser warnings that drive visitors away.
One last tip: after installing, test your certificate with an online SSL checker to confirm the full chain (certificate plus intermediates) is served correctly. A missing intermediate causes warnings in some browsers.
